What is Daydreaming Dani?
My original idea for the blog was that it would be a travel blog about being an au pair overseas. But I found that niche extremely restrictive, especially since it’s been nearly four years since I’ve been an au pair. I’m passionate about many things, the benefits of being an au pair being only one of them! My current obsession is financial literacy in young adults. I’m reading anything I can get my hands on about budgeting for now and in the future.
I’ll write about what comes to mind and hopefully you find it useful or just a plain old good read. Anything from student advice, relationship anecdotes, and slightly autobiographical passages, to what I’ve been watching lately. Have a look around, and let me know if you have any suggestions on what you want to read next!
Who is Dani?
My name is Danikka, I’m 22, and I’ve always been a bit of a daydreamer, preferring to stare out the window over carrying a cohesive conversation. Luckily for me, Adam thinks it’s cute that I live on another planet.
I’ve loved the written word for as long as I can remember; some of my earliest memories are typing my little fairy-tales up on Dad’s old electric type-writer. I wrote a short novella for a story competition in high school that was shortlisted, although didn’t win any prizes. But it was fun and it was the first story I had ever actually finished!
Now I’m getting older, I find myself less drawn to writing fairy tales. There are so many much more exciting stories than mine already out there! But I still find myself drawn to the keyboard, drawn to the words and the letters. Nothing annoys me more than people who have graduated high school still not knowing how to correctly use commas!!!
So what do I do?
I’m currently studying a double degree; Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Business, majoring in Creative Writing and Business Management. Post-graduation I intend to complete a Masters of Editing and Publishing, with a goal to maybe one day helping aspiring authors navigate the tricky pathway to self publishing and promoting. Anything from editing their manuscripts to helping design their websites.
However in my daylight hours I work as an in-house blogger and social media manager at Smart Social Online. They help businesses big and small with their online presence. I also freelance edit anything from blog posts to essays and assignments. So, if you want to know more about Smart Social, head to their website. Or want to know if I can help you with the structure and grammar for that heavily weighted essay or uni application? Contact me here.
